Deputy PM: Russia prepares for EU oil ban, works on redirection

MOSCOW, Oct 12 (PRIME) -- Russia is preparing for the E.U. oil import ban by redirecting exports to the East, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Wednesday during the Russian Energy Week forum.

“It is obvious that we understand the situation that is going to happen starting from December, and we are preparing for the energy embargo,” he said.

“It will start with oil in December and continue with oil products in February. To prepare for that, we are implementing several projects to redirect our energy resources to the East, to the countries of the Asia–Pacific region.”

Russia remains a leading energy partner for consumers, and should maintain its export potential in spite of all troubles and challenges, he said.

Novak also said that Russia was ready to raise exports of oil to Turkey, that expressed its interest and companies are now working on the issue at a commercial level, he said.
